Simple!"

Nick Musson

Nick has been training in Martial Arts since 1980.
Having first trained in several traditional Eastern and Western Martial Arts, both armed and unarmed, he then went on to exclusively study and teach European Sword Arts, which then led him to forming and running his own organisation 'The Free Fighters Guild'.
He taught western sword play and weapons combat in both a full and part-time capacity for over fifteen years.

It was during this time that Nick re-interpreted what is arguably at least a 500 year old method of understanding combat techniques and principles, via the application of Geometric Principles to the weapons being used. This led Nick to formalising and developing a Geometric based Combat system Called 'The Eight Spheres Geometry of Combat'.

As well as teaching a range of different weapons' disciplines, Nick has also given fight performances and displays for a number of high profile national organisations, and of course, he is also a huge fan of the Star Wars films and the lightsaber!

Ben Lavers

Location: East London

Prior to Silver Sabres Ben Lavers has had an active sports life, swimming competitively for seven years for the local borough of Newham swimming club and participating in Rugby. Ben was also a part of the Scouts for many years, participating and helping in fund raising events and getting involved in his local community.

Recently in Ben's life since 2013, he has entered the Cosplay and Comic Con community, consisting of taking on the role favourite franchise characters in costume for example, Jedi and Jawas from Star Wars and helping to raise money for various causes I.e. Dogs Trust. It was through this community Ben discovered the Silver Sabres and his journey began.

Ben has been with the Silver Sabres since August 2016, learning and mentored by Faisal Mian the LED Sabre.

1. What made you start training with the Silver Sabres?

"Having attended various Comic Con events since 2013, I have always had a passion for Star Wars, which got me into cosplay as a Jedi or Jawa. Naturally this led me to buying a Lightsaber for myself.
It is okay having a sabre but, unless you can actually use it then it's simply a very expensive light up tube.
Meeting Faisal Mian at Comic Con, Silver Sabres gave me the opportunity to learn how to actually use a sabre in a realistic manner and also helped me learn some life lessons along the way. "

2. What was your first Star Wars experience?

"Earliest memory would have to be watching the original trilogy on VHS on the VCR. Back then I had not really understood what it was I had been watching, but I loved the action and characters, that was where my love of Star Wars unknowingly began. "

3. Who would narrate your life story?

"Jawa's most definitely, you wouldn't understand anything they were saying but, just the way they speak is so entertaining, and makes me laugh "

4. The best piece of advice you have been given?

"I can't recall who told me but, I relate to it often "If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there"

5. What does the Silver Sabres mean to you?

"Investing in something you enjoy, learning new skills and partaking in a journey of self-discovery. "

6. Who is your role model and why?

"My team/class mates. - They all bring something to the table that is unique. Participating in a shared interest encourages me to open my eyes to learn something new from an array of different people"

7. What is you favourite part of the Silver Sabres experience?

"Meeting new people, sharing learnt skills with other class/team mates. Having structure and self-discipline."

8. Jedi, Sith or Grey and why?

"Grey all the way - Jedi and Sith are the far two extremes, too much of anything is bad for you. Therefore, best to go for the healthy middle a balanced diet. "
